For the fall survey of the third FReDA wave (W3b) in 2023, we called for proposals for modules or individual questions. The deadline for submissions was 8 July 2022. We would like to thank all researchers who submitted proposals. In a multi-stage process, the FReDA committees made a decision and selected suitable items.
The following modules or questions will be integrated and asked in the fall survey of the third FReDA wave (W3b) in 2023:
• Uncertainties and resilience Prof. Dr Gunnar Anderson and Prof. Dr Gerda Neyer (Stockholm University, Sweden) • Demographic change and political behaviour Prof. Dr Dr Anette Eva Fasang and Prof. Dr Heike Klüver (Humboldt Universität zu Berlin) • Sexual satisfaction and equity in couples’ relationships Prof. Dr Nicola Döring (Technische Universität Ilmenau) and Prof. Dr Peer Briken (Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE)) • What are we eating today? Eating styles in families and couples Prof. Dr Jutta Mata, Vanessa Knobl and Ira Herwig (University of Mannheim)
If submissions were not included in this survey wave, this was not related to the quality of the submitted module, but rather on the limited time available in the survey, which required us to make a selection.
As soon as we launch another call for open modules, we will publish the call in our newsletter and inform you about deadlines, as well as the preliminary list of items for the survey wave.
The Russian attack on Ukraine has triggered an enormous movement of refugees: since the start of the war on February 24, 2022, more than one million people have fled Ukraine to Germany alone. For the study "Refugees from Ukraine in Germany", questions from the FReDA sample were also used.
The first results were published in December. Among other things, the study shows that many Ukrainian refugees are already actively participating in life in Germany: 17 percent are already employed in Germany, half are attending a language course, and 60 percent live in their own apartment. The refugee children attend schools and some also daycare centers. While most Ukrainian refugees plan to stay in Germany only temporarily, a quarter would probably like to live here permanently.
The study "Refugees from Ukraine in Germany" is a joint project of the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB), the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), the Research Center of the Federal Office for Migration and Refugees (BAMF-FZ) and the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at DIW Berlin. A second round of surveys has been conducted since January 2023.
