Data Access FAQs

The data from the first FReDA wave are available. They are processed by GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and are available to researchers. Here you will find the most important information about accessing the data.

What is offered?

• Scientific Use Files of the first wave of FReDA
• The dataset includes the W1R recruitment wave, as well as both sub-waves W1A and W1B
• Furthermore, the paradata of the survey are available
• The data are anonymised

W1R: Around 37,700 interviews
W1A: Around 22,000 interviews
W1B: Around 20,000 interviews

Who has access?

• Researchers with appropriate proof
• Students can also work with the FReDA data – for example, as part of their final theses
• The data are available exclusively for scientific, non-commercial purposes

How do I get access to the data?

• Send an e-mail to the GESIS data service
• Verify your scientific work
• Complete a data use contract

Access is free of charge

How can I get a first impression of the FReDA data?

• There is the possibility to first search the data using the GESIS search tool.
• This search is also possible without a user contract.
