The time has come: Starting on 31 May 2023, the data from the first FReDA wave are available to the scientific community. The dataset contains the W1R recruitment wave as well as the two sub-waves W1A and W1B; in addition, the paradata of the survey are available.
The data are available to the research community for scientific and non-commercial purposes and are distributed by GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. Access is free of charge. The survey focuses on questions about family and partnership.
Here we have compiled a short overview with the most important information for you.
If you are interested in using the data, you will need to sign a data use contract and verify that you belong to the scientific community. After the contract has been verified, GESIS will provide you with the data as scientific use files. The data can also be searched and retrieved via the GESIS search tool. If you have any questions regarding data access, please contact GESIS Data Services.
By the way: Students also have the opportunity to work with FReDA data, for example as part of their thesis. They can apply for data access via their advisor or professor. After they have concluded a user agreement with GESIS, they also receive data access to the anonymised dataset published for researchers.
For the published data from the FReDA surveys, you can find the corresponding documentation here.
Here you can download the data use contract.
If you have any questions regarding the content of the FReDA data, please contact our support team.
