FReDA is a cooperation project that was carried out on 31 December 2024 by a consortium consisting of the German Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB), GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences and the University of Cologne (representing pairfam). At the beginning of 2025, pairfam became part of FReDA and the University of Cologne therefore left the consortium. Since then, the two partners Federal Institute for Population Research and GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences have been responsible for the project.

The FReDA research project is guided by an Advisory Board that is comprised of five representatives from different federal ministries and funding organisations, as well as six researchers.
