From 11 to 13 May 2022, the conference “14 Years of pairfam – Résumé and Outlook of the German Family Panel” will take place in Munich. This is the official closing conference for pairfam. After 14 years of support from the DFG (German Research Foundation), the project will become part of the FReDA data infrastructure. You can find more information here. The conference will cover all of the main topics of pairfam, such as questions about partnerships, parenthood, intergenerational relationships, parenthood and childhood development, including current topics like the COVID-19 pandemic. The current programme is available here.
Since 2008, pairfam has provided the scientific community large, representative, longitudinal data sets to analyse relationships and family dynamics in Germany from a multi-actor perspective. Even though the funding is coming to an end, the samples will continue to be surveyed in the context of the FReDA project. This means panel data will still be collected and the focus on partnerships and family-relevant questions will continue. In addition, FReDA's multi-actor design focuses on the dyadic survey of partners, as well as ex-partners.
Registration: You can still register to attend until 1 April 2022. Due to the limited space, early registration is recommended. Information about registration is available here. Corona: Due for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the final format of the conference will depend on the regulations in place at that time. Currently, a hybrid event is planned that allows for in-person and online participation. Further information about the scientific programme, conference organisation and registration are available on this website.
