The international Generations and Gender Survey (GGS) forms the core of the FReDA panel study. Martin Bujard and Detlev Lück spoke about the integration of the German GGS into the German family demographic panel and reported about the decisions and adjustments that were necessary as a consequence of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The complete presentation that was given on 22 February 2022 at the GGP-Connect webinar series can be viewed here:
The GGS in Germany is a central element of FReDA. Every three years, the respective GGS questionnaire will be used to survey the anchor persons. The collected data make it possible to compare Germany with many other European and non-European countries.
Due to Corona and the related hygiene regulations, the originally planned face-to-face survey of individuals through interviewers was not possible. Therefore, FReDA had to change its survey method and move to CAWI being the main survey method and PAPI as a backup method.
In addition, FReDA introduced a questionnaire split: One wave of the FReDA panel is comprised of two corresponding partial waves. In the spring and fall of each year, respondents complete a questionnaire, with only a small portion of the questionnaire included in both surveys and the majority included in only one of the two surveys. Together, both surveys make up the complete survey wave with all questions planned for that year. They can also be analysed independently or combined with other partial waves for analyses.
We provide information about upcoming survey waves, current research results from our project field, calls for open modules as well as conferences and user workshops.
